    Where to Stay

Opal Sands is a Gorgeous Hotel on Clearwater Beach a 30 min drive from Downtown St.Pete. The photo below was taken from the balcony of my room.Ridiculous I know. The whole hotel is just as beautiful as the views of the Gulf. The Restaurant and spa are quite nice as well.

This Vinoy is the Downtown Version of the Don Cesar geographically. The Lobby is beautiful featuring Chihuly chandeliers. You may run into a celebrity seeing as how an insider tip told me HSN puts up its guests here quite often. Sit in the Lobby and order food while using your laptop, or dress up and try the 1920's menu at Marchands. Go for a modern alfresco feel at Paul's landing the hotels newest restaurant overlooking beach drive and 5th Ave NE.

If you're a literary genius connoisseur you'll be happy to know F. Scott Fitzgerald stayed here back in the day. Its a truly gorgeous hotel with a peaceful atmosphere. Eat in the Lobby while listening to a Jazz band tinkle the grand piano and take in the gorgeous sunsets on the gulf at this pink palace.

The Birchwood is a beautiful hotel on Beach Drive. Its best for the party animal, due to the fact that there's a beautiful rooftop lounge overlooking downtown st.pete and they have canopy's you can rent out for parties. Its a hit with locals. Their food in the restaurant is delicious sit in the lobby and eat or outside. Go during brunch and try the Tres Leche French Toast or the Creole Shrimp & Grits.

Where you choose to lay down your head down at night can make or break an entire trip. The great thing about living in Florida is that there are more than a few beach resorts where you can pretend your on vacation. So whether you're from far away or local you can enjoy these hotels. The Don Cesar brings back the time of F.Scott & Zelda with Jazz in the lobby at night Thursday through Sunday. If your a party animal stay at The Birchwood, they have a place upstairs called The Canopy that stays lit on the weekends. Some of these are on the pricier side but well worth it. If you're trying to save money consider an AirBnB or a search on Kayak for good deals in the area. The Vinoy has good prices at certain times of the year & if your a Florida resident call the hotel directly to book your stay for a Florida resident discount which I was able to get at Opal Sands.
